This is still some of my favorite HipHop… the more current, the better. Get Scott Walker out.

I’d be lying if I said I totally understood how and why Tumblr works, but I think I should give it a harder look. There’s a number of people I look up to in this social media thing and if they get it, I should be able to get it. I don’t necessarily go with EVERY trend (I never touched Reddit, and not really sure what BranchOut is) but of the social medias I have gotten into, I’ve done pretty good with (see Twitter, MySpace, and of course, Facebook). So anyway, I recall liking how easy it was to post things on Tumblr, so I guess I’ll have to go back and look deeper into it. Right now I’m just glad I could recall my damn password for this thing.
Today is the day the future of big budget Black filmmaking hangs in the balance. According to George Lucas at least. After spending about 555 million adjusted for inflation dollars to make his 6 installments of Star Wars, Lucas has now vowed to abandon half a billion budgets forever…

An OLD metal beat I made years ago. Pretty hilarious.
This guy is an absolutely AMAZING writer… I was RIVETED by this short story, and cannot wait to read the next part.
Part one of a two part story.
I’ll never forget the night I spent with my father in September 1997. It was the first time anyone asked me how my mother died.
We were drinking at a bar in the Bronx when my father had introduced me to his secretary. My father’s job as a construction foreman…
This is the Georgia Parole Board that Denied Troy Davis clemency. I think it’s interesting to note that the two black men are Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board.
My new video “Gum Balls” with @picassowitapen will be out Sunday 8/28. The video is directed by @ryanlightbourn and the song is off my new album Dreams In Stereo, which is available now on iTunes and other online retailers.

I am so sick of President Obama and this Congress…
I’m sure there are many of my friends who will say “Hey, it’s not Obama’s fault” and cite some pretty good reasons why he’s “trying”, but that’s a damn lie. He’s working to get re-elected. He’s pretending to work on the things that matter to “all Americans”, but really help nobody. He’s gone out of his way to prove he’s “Everybody’s President”, and I think he has, because he for damn sure ain’t “Black America’s President”. Our unemployment rate is consistently double whatever the National Average… I’d like to think a Black President might make that a priority… but not a word out of this guy.

Jon Stewart did a skit not too long ago about how his approval rating amongst Black people will slip from 96% to 94%. Too true. While there are those of us who prefer to look at a man’s political record, too many of my Black people have a BET frame of mind and will vote with this guy regardless of the fact that he’s been spending his entire political career distancing himself from us.
.
Oh, you disagree? He went from having Dr. Cornel West at every event to not returning his phone calls, because Dr. West is a bastion of truth. It’s funny because people have gone out of their way to label Tavis Smiley and Cornel West as “haters” (I hate that word in the Black Community, I really do) when they have been critical of Obama. And they criticize him when and where it matters, none of this continuous and mindless Birther bullshit.
Where I feel he’s most grossly misrepresented us is continuously letting the Republican Party dictate the terms of what happens in all these negotiations. Boehner and Company have proven they have no problem letting the whole country go over a cliff… or at least they are representing that position. They know that the corporations that back them will never let them feel the fire of what the regular man has to go through. Somebody once said that Republicans fear their base and Democrats hate theirs. I think they BOTH hate their bases now and simply don’t care what we have to say.
I’m writing this blog and venting simply to get it out of my system, because in all truthfullness and honesty, it’s not the fault of the idiots we send that they don’t do the job. It’s the fault of the People. We’re racist, homophobic, xenophobic, and we want our “leaders” to reflect our values. I can’t tell you how many people are just overwhelmed when they talk to me that I have knowledge of world events, my opinions are reasonably well-formed, you’d think they found a real live Bigfoot. When I was in Fernandina for the week to do my Summer Camp Class I offered my assistance to the neighbors across the street from Fitz. The gentleman’s name was Jack, he was probably in his late 50’s, retired military, Christian… a really nice guy that has no idea (or maybe he does) that he’s just more-than-slightly insulting when he could not hide his surprise at us discussing Haiti and I could name the leaders of the country. (Not to mention that what he said was utterly racist towards Haitians and he had no way of knowing whether I had Haitian blood, but that’s a different blog for a different day). People really expect people to be stupid… and they’re usually right.

It wasn’t “cool” to be smart when I was a kid, and now, it’s not even expected. I don’t know how many people would have even turned out to vote had it not been a Black man in the election last time. As a country we progressively get stupider and stupider. I have a good friend on Facebook that I have a lot of respect for… well, I USED to have respect for until one day he commented on one of my politic-oriented blogs quite eloquently, then declared at the end “…but there ain’t a damn thing we can do about it.”
I like this guy, but to hear him spout defeatist bullshit like that really hurt me to my heart. I just thank my Stars and Garters that he lives now instead of 45-50 years ago when people took to the streets to protest and fight for the rights that so many of us take for granted, else we wouldn’t have even had the chance to take them for granted with weak-willed pussy-ass pessimists like him around.
I usually don’t work blue when I’m discussing politics, but at this point I am so fucking frustrated I can’t help it. Over and over again I watch these artificially-manufactured candidates who spout pre-packaged Party-approved catchphrases for these witless fucks to digest between Fox and Friends and whatever marathon they’re watching on Bravo (I mean, come on… there’s reality tv a-la-Mark Burnett, then there’s that “Housewives” shit) , and they are totally and completely happy being misinformed. The idea of the Black Guy On A Spending Spree Giving Money To The Hood has been the Fox News message forever now, and people pretend this shit is not fucking racist.
The First Lady invites Common to come to the White House to read poetry, and somehow Common becomes a gangsta rapper? Seriously? George H.W. Bush invited Eazy Motherfuckin’ E from Niggas Wit Attitudes to the White House, he was a REAL Gangsta Rapper. You’re totally misrepresenting Common. This is the image they are willing to perpetuate… this just kills me. Over and over again we play the strings of these widely-held stereotypes. I’m just kind of tired of this shit.

This whole “Budget Crisis” is artificially created. Never in all the years we’ve had presidents have we had a problem raising the debt ceiling, ever… EVER! Not until we get a Black President. Bush raised the damn thing 18 times. HE RAISED IT 18 FUCKING TIMES AND THE BLACK GUY CAN’T DO IT ONCE?! Can you read the words on this page and seriously say “It’s not racist”? Can you?
I think the grand Experiment is over, America, and you have failed. If we were trying to prove to the World that this is “post-Racial” America, I can tell you right now that I haven’t a clue what the fuck that word means. If by “post-racial” you mean “pretend-we-can’t-see-racism-cuz-I-feel-guilty-admitting-it” then you’re right. We are no more post-racial than we are post-sexual (I mean discriminating against gays). We are a seething pot of Get-the-fuck-over-it while we continue to smash your face in the shit like we’re potty-training a puppy.
So without some really compelling execution by the Chief of the Executive Branch, I think for the first time I’m just staying home on election day. I vote out of responsibility, but the people in DC are irresponsible. The fucktards I’m around every day who can spout Illuminati conspiracies and don’t bother voting are irresponsible. People will get away with whatever we are willing to let them get away with, and won’t stop until we make them.
Okay, rant over. You may resume not giving a fuck… Cuz I just ran out too.
